Dr. Ngawang Tenphel joined Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies in 1995 and received Acharya degree in 2004. Subsequently, he continued his studies at Sera Mey Monastary and received Geshe degree in 2008. In the meantime, Dr. Ngawang Tenphel served as a guest faculty at CIHTS. His Ph.D. on “The Concept of Atman and Anatman in the Philosophies of Ancient Indian Non-Buddhist Schools and School of Buddhism” was awarded in 2013 from CIHTS.
In 2014, Dr. Tenphel was appointed as Asst. Professor in Gelug Sampradaya at CIHTS. He was elected as President of 46. Gelugpa Students’ Welfare Committee (GSWC) in 2015 and again from 2019 to 2021. He also served as president of Alumni Association of CIHTS from 2021 to 2022. He is GSWC in-charge too. He has also played a pivotal role in organizing scores of conferences, national and international seminars in the institute itself.
Currently, he is the students’ dean along with supervising Ph.D. scholars. Besides, Dr. Ngawang Tenphel has published some books and articles in various journals and websites.

Geshe Rigzin Dorjee holds Karampa (B.A.), Lopon (M.A.) and Lharampa degree (equivalent to Doctorate) in Buddhist Philosophy from Losel Ling Monastic University, South India. He teaches in Geluk Samparadaya Department, Faculty of Hetu and Adhyatma Vidya. His teaching areas are Madhyamakavatara and Paramita. His research interest focuses on the critical works on Madhyamaka and Pramana. He has great experience in analytical writings in both Sutra and Tantras.

Geshe Tenzin Dhemeyhas received Geshe Lharampa degree (equivalent to Ph.D.) from Gelugpa University, Karnataka. He joined the Drepung Losel Ling Monastic Collage in 1997 and since then rigorously studied five major Buddhist sciences, viz., Pramana, Pragyaparamita, Madhyamika, Vinaya and Abhidharma. During the six years of Gelug great examination in Gelugpa University; he secured first position for five consecutive years. He studied Buddhist Psychology, epistemology, Buddhist ethics and logic for twenty-four years and has earned traditional Karampa (B.A.) and Lopon (M.A.) degrees with first grade. Later on, he joined Gyumed Tantric University to study four classes of Tantras, specializing in Guhyasamaja, Chakrasamvara and Vajrabhairava. He further studied Buddhist tantric practices and methods for meditating on Nadi, Vayu & Bindu and earned Geshe Ngagrampa degree (highest degree in Tantra philosophy) with first position in the final examination. Additionally, he has studied modern science for four years at Drepung Losel Ling Meditation and Science Center. In 2021 he has shouldered the responsibility of Geshe Lethokat Drepung Losel Ling Monastic Collage, that is to supervise quality assurance in imparting knowledge in the monastic environment.
At present, he is teaching Buddhist philosophy at CIHTS, Varanasi in Department of Sampradaya Shastra, Faculty of Hetu and Adhayatma Vidya. He has keen research interest in analysing Madhyamaka philosophical system and illusory body and intermediate state of dream phenomenology propounded in Guhyasamaja Tantra. Keeping up with the current trends in pedagogy, he is devoted himself in bringing about dynamic change in imparting knowledge in classroom settings.

Dr. Tenzin Nyima (Vidya Kumar)has received his Ph.D. and M.Phil. degrees from Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarnath, and his doctoral thesis is entitled, “Critical Analysis on Relation of Body and Mind from Buddhist Perspective”. He has studied Buddhist Psychology, Buddhist Epistemology, Pramana and Prajñāpāramitā at Drepung Losel Ling Monastic Collage, Karnataka for 8 years and then he joined CIHTS in 2006 and earned the titles of Shastri (B.A) and Acharya (M.A). Currently, he is engaged in teaching Buddhist Philosophy at his alma mater, in Department of Sampradaya Shastra, Faculty of Hetu and Adhayatma Vidya. Taking into account the current trends in the contemporary education and changes in socio-cultural environment he combines traditional wisdom with modern educational pedagogy to impart knowledge in the class.
He constantly invests himself in research areas that are primarily centred around exploration of dynamics of mind, meditation, spiritual awakening and philanthropic mindfulness through the progressive approach of the ancient Indian wisdom. He has knowledge of Hindi, Tibetan, English, Sanskrit and Pali languages which enabled him to translate selected Sutras, crucial articles and hymns of prayers. Furthermore, he has been interpreting teachings/lectures of eminent scholars on various occasions across India. He has published several research articles on Buddhist studies and Himalayan-culture in reputed national journals. Apart from his academic responsibilities, he is a member of several committees in the Institute and has coordinated workshops, seminars and symposiums. In the meantime, he has participated and presented papers in the national and international seminars.
