Departments
Based on the deeply-rooted pedagogical framework of the Panch Mahavidyas, the departments ensure the holistic development of the students, highlighting the values of emotional and spiritual intelligence. The thirteen departments of the Institute offer a wide array of courses like Buddhist Philosophy, Sanskrit, Tibetan language and Literature, English, Hindi, Pali, Teaching Pedagogy, Political Science, Economics, History, Tibetan culture, Geography, Woodcraft and Painting, medical sciences and Bhot Jyotish.
The same departments also bear responsibility to provide education to the pre-university classes like Purva Madhyama and Uttar Madhyama. Ancticipating NEP 2020, the departments offer a bouquet of choice based courses to the students, out of which they have the liberty to design their own course according to their choices. Along with various departmental presentations, Kanthastha Pariksha, assignments, departmental conferences, seminars, workshops and special lecture series, the student community is especially benefited by the practice of traditional Nalanda debate practices.
