Dr. Ngawang Tenphel

Dr. Ngawang Tenphel joined Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies in 1995 and received Acharya degree in 2004. Subsequently, he continued his studies at Sera Mey Monastary and received Geshe degree in 2008. In the meantime, Dr. Ngawang Tenphel served as a guest faculty at CIHTS. His Ph.D. on “The Concept of Atman and Anatman in the Philosophies of Ancient Indian Non-Buddhist Schools and School of Buddhism” was awarded in 2013 from CIHTS.

 In 2014, Dr. Tenphel was appointed as Asst. Professor in Gelug Sampradaya at CIHTS. He was elected as President of 46^་་ Gelugpa Students’ Welfare Committee (GSWC) in 2015 and again from 2019 to 2021. He also served as president of Alumni Association of CIHTS from 2021 to 2022. He is GSWC in-charge too. He has also played a pivotal role in organizing scores of conferences, national and international seminars in the institute itself.

Currently, he is the students’ dean along with supervising Ph.D. scholars. Besides, Dr. Ngawang Tenphel has published some books and articles in various journals and websites.
