Awards & acolades

In the glorious history of more than fifty years of CIHTS, the Institute has been recognized as the center of excellence by various international and national agencies, be it governmental or non-governmental. In 2001, the Institute was awarded a five-star rating by NAAC. The same agency awarded the ‘A’ Grade to the Institute in 2022. In 2009, two of the scholars of CIHTS were honoured with the prestigious Padama Shri award for their contribution to education and literature. In 2015, the Government of India honoured Prof. Ram Shankar Tripathi with Vesak Prashasti for their prolific contribution in the area of Indian philosophy, Buddhsim and Sanskrit. In 2016, the Govt. of India felicitated Prof. Ngawang Samten with Vesak Prashasti for his diligent efforts and scholarship in the field of Tibetology, Buddhism, Indian philosophy, art and culture. In 2018, the Government of India honored CIHTS with the Vesak Prashasti for its contribution to preservation and dissemination of Philosophy, culture and art of India.
