Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS)is dedicated to fostering holistic and integrated development in teachers and teacher educators through the provision of modern education, combined with the rich traditions of philosophy and education that encompass the teachings of the mind, logic, and epistemology. This commitment draws inspiration from the time-honored traditions of the ancient Nalanda Monastic University of India.

Recognizing the pressing need for quality educators, teacher educators, and an effective teacher education system, the Centre for Teacher Education (CTE) at CIHTS has taken a pioneering step by introducing innovative programs. Since the academic session of 2014-15, CTE has initiated a four-year integrated B.A.B.Ed./B.Sc.B.Ed. program and a two-year B.Ed. program. In its initial phase, CTE was administered by the Department of Education in Dharamsala. Both these programs have received approval and sanction from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the apex body overseeing and monitoring teacher education in India.

Currently, CTE is offering a unique 4-year integrated B.A.B.Ed. program and a two-year B.Ed. program, with “Tibetan Language and Literature” as a compulsory subject in each semester. The inclusion of this paper aims to enhance proficiency in the Tibetan language while simultaneously preserving and perpetuating the rich cultural heritage of the Tibetan people and those residing in the Himalayan region.

Additionally, a mandatory paper titled “Fundamentals of Buddhist Logic, Psychology, and Cognitive Sciences” (Dialectic) is incorporated into each semester. This course delves into the Tibetan methodology of Teaching-Learning, equipping learners with essential skills to teach subjects through logic and concept mapping. This paper serves as a crucial component throughout the entire duration of the program, further enriching the educational experience at CIHTS.
