Talk on Hospital Management

The Department of Sowa-Rigpa organized a talk on “Hospital Management and its Importance” to all the Medical Officers, teaching faculties and Interns on 1st of Feb. 2025.

Mr. Tsering, Under Secretary of Department of Health, Central Tibetan Administration has given the talk on the aforesaid topic.. He mainly emphasized on the Hospital functions (patient care and managerial function) Role of Hospital and Healthcare Administrators (towards patient and community) Elements ofHospital and Health systems, Hospital Management Information system, SWOT Analysis, the challenges and strategies of Good Hospital Management.

Talk on Management of Psychosomatic Diseases

Under the kind guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Lobsang Tenzin Rakdho, the department has organized a talk on Management of Psychosomatic diseases on 13th Feb 2025 at Sambhot Bhawan Conference Hall.

Lopon Jampa from Palpung Sherabling Monastery has kindly accepted the invitation and has shared his experience treating Psychosomatic diseases in the Himalayan region communities. He introduced the different To; the Holistic treatment or the spiritual practice for a different Psychosomatic disease. He stressed the student and the medical practitioner to thoroughly learn the theoretical text and its actual practice which is very beneficial for such patients.

Talk on National and State Health schemes:

 Dr. Sonam Giathen Negi, currently working as a Chief Medical Officer at Jangi, Himachal Pradesh has kindly given a talk on the National and State Health schemes to the BSRMS Interns and senior students during his short visit to Institute campus on 2nd of April 2025. He introduced and interact the student on the National and State health schemes, the opportunities, Role of Traditional Medicine like Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Sowa-Rigpa in public health.  He further emphasized that Integrating systems like Sowa-Rigpa into national health programs not only honours India’s rich medical heritage but also strengthens the country’s ability to manage rising non-communicable diseases. It also enhances the vision of “Health for All” by providing equitable, affordable, and quality healthcare through a culturally accepted, community-based approach. Due to limitation and lack of scientific research and documentations, which affects wider acceptance and policy support, he stressed the student to do more evidence-based studies to validate and integrate such practices effectively. This talk was organized at Sambhot Bhawan conference hall.  (Dr) Karma Chodon coordinated this health talk.

World Health Day

Under the guidance of the Dean and Head of the Sowa-Rigpa Department, the Sowa-Rigpa Student Council (SSC) observed a World Health Day on 7th April 2025 with the global theme “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures”. The event mainly focused on uniqueness of Sowa-Rigpa, preventive health, exhibition on healthy diet and lifestyle, Medicinal plants, Sowa-Rigpa medical products and practical demonstrations of unique therapies.  Modern medical screenings such as BP, Blood group, BMI and Blood sugar test, Eye check-up has also done as a preventive health care. During the event, total 37 nasal therapy, 42 Cupping therapy, 48 Oil massage, and total 25 kyug – emesis therapy and 150 eye check-up has been done on this health day occasion.

Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Wangchuk Dorjee Negi and Registrar Madam Dr Sunita Chandra has kindly graced the event and about 2000 staff, student and visitors joined the event with the positive remarks and feedback.

Nepal Sowa-Rigpa Team Visit

The Nepal based Sowa-Rigpa International Medical College, Principal Dr. Tenzing Jinpa Bhutia along with Chairman, Research Centre for Traditional, Buddhist and Integrative Medicine, Director, Planning and Monitoring, Lumbini Buddhist University, Chairman of Nepal Professional Health Council, Director General, Department of Ayurveda and Alternative Medicine, Member of Sowa-Rigpa Association of Nepal and WFF of Nepal jointly organized a team visit to CIHTS for academic collaboration, discussion and exchange the knowledge in the field of Sowa-Rigpa on 16th and 17th of December 2024.

Three Days National Seminar on Sowa-Rigpa at CIHTS, Sarnath, Varanasi

The Department of Sowa-Rigpa has organized Three Days National Seminar on Sowa-Rigpa at CIHTS, Sarnath, Varanasi from 20th till 22nd December 2024. The theme of the seminar is Clinical aspects of Sowa-Rigpa, Theoretical studies, Research and Methodology. Total 16 experts have invited for the seminar and have covered 16 different topics in total 10 sessions.

104 Sowa-Rigpa medical practitioners from different states has attended the seminar.
