Associate Professor of Sakya Sampradaya Shastra
Khenpo Dakpa Senge has received traditional Acharya (M.A) Degree from Sakya College, Dehradun. He was conferred Khenpo title (Ph.D.) by His Holiness the 42nd Sakya Trizin (Head of the Order). He is currently working as Associate Professor in the Sakya Sampradaya, Faculty of Hetu Avam Adhyatma Vidya Department of Sampradaya. His teaching area involves Buddhist philosophy, Buddhist ethics and social harmony.
His key interest is centered on Buddhist and non-Buddhist philosophy, researching on Buddhist scriptures and daily practice, critical editing, searching for sources of references from Tibetan traditional scriptures Kagyur/Tengyur/Sungbum of different Tibetan editions.
Apart from his regular duties, he composes research text and articles, guiding to the Ph.D. students. He also attends and delivers talks in many International and National Seminars, Workshops, Symposium and Conferences in the campus and other states.
Assistant Professor of Sakya Sampradaya Shastra (Contractual)
At present Acharya Dechen Wangmo is the Assisting Teacher of Sakya Sampradaya at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS) Sarnath, Varanasi – 221007 ( India).This position primarily focuses on articulating and teaching Essential Buddhist Practices. Concentrating on the intellectual propensity of each individual student, Acharya Dechen Wangmo is proving most skillful in nurturing that propensity into fruition.
After receiving Shastri (B.A), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)together with Tibetan Honors, Post-Graduate (Acharya Degree)from CIHTS, Sarnath, her academic career reached a most significant turning point! Having received The Sacred Sakya Teachings Lamdre (Path with Results) from His Holiness the 42nd Sakya Trizin Rinpoche, Dechen Wangmo was catapulted into an ordained nun at the age of 26. Planning to return to her Ph.D. studies, a second significant turning point occurred as she was graciously offered the post of Principal at Sakya College for Nuns, Dehradun. Together with the administration of Sakya College for Nuns from 2009 – 2020,DechenWangmo successfully taught classical Tibetan language, both comprehension and composition. After many years of ground breaking administration and studies, a handful of Sakya nuns graduated with the recognition of their Acharya Degrees. A triumphant moment for the Sakya Nuns, her mission was accomplished! After 11 years, Dechen Wangmo has returned to CIHTS, Sarnath to pursue her Ph.D studies. Commencing in 2022, Dechen Wangmo was also given responsibility for the additional charge of Warden of the Girls hostel of CIHTS, Sarnath.
Once again in 2023, CIHTS has entrusted Acharya Dechen Wangmo with the responsibility of moulding some 160 female enthusiastic young minds, students who reside in the hostel, to not only they grow as individuals but to enhance the progressive reputation of CIHTS itself, highly relevant to the modern ever-changing world.
Assistant Professor of Sakya Sampradaya Shastra (Contractual)
Lopon Ngawang Thokmey holds M.A. in Buddhist Philosophy from Sakya College at Dehradhun, Uttarakhand and teaches in Sakya Sampradaya, Faculty of Hetu and Adhyatma Vidya. His teaching area involves tenets of the four Indian Buddhist Philosophical Schools: Madhyamaka, Yogacara, Sautrantika and Vaibhashika; Buddhist Pramana, Madhyamika, Paramita and Buddhist Ethics.
His research interest includes Madhyamika and Buddist Tantara. He is well versed with Sanskrit, Hindi and Tibetan Literature.
Assistant Professor of Sakya Sampradaya Shastra (Contractual)
Khenpo Ngawang Zodpa joined Ngorpa Centre in Uttarakhand for the Buddhist monastic ritual education in the year of 1981. Having graduated from there, Khenpo Ngawang Zodpa joined Dzongsar Institute in Himachal Pradesh in 1988 and studied the Buddhist philosophy under the guidance of the late great master Khechen Kunga Wangchug. On instance of his master, he joined Sakya College in Uttarakhand in 1992 for further knowledge of Buddhism, and studied both Sutra and Tantra under the futuristic guidance of the late great master Khenchen Migmar Tsering until the graduation. Taking his comprehensive comprehension of the Buddhist philosophy, he was first appointed as an assistant teacher at the Sakya College, and later as a teacher for his great services. In 2004, he was transferred to Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies for Sakya Sampradaya Shastra teaching, for his great knowledge of the Buddhist philosophy and contribution to it. Along with conducting the classes, Khenpo Ngawang Zodpa not only gives teachings on Buddhism as per the CIHTS’s will, but also has composed many critical articles on Buddha Dharma, and has translated the four Buddhist canonical scriptures into the English literatures from the Tibetan so far. In 2011, Khenpo Ngawang Zodpa visited Russia for imparting Buddhist teachings and conducting Tibetan literature officially as per the order of CIHTS, Sarnath Varanasi.
